Congratulations, you’ve just had a baby! The next step is to nourish your newborn and you have the opportunity to do this through breastfeeding.

Be Prepared

Before you start nursing, make sure you have all the items you need in order to create a comfortable experience. Invest in a nursing pillow and get some soft blankets for extra comfort.

You may also want to purchase a nursing top or two so that it makes it easier for both you and your baby.

With these items, it will be much easier for both of you during feeding times.

Get Educated

It’s important that new moms are well informed about breastfeeding so they can create an efficient plan for their baby’s nutrition needs.

Take advantage of online resources like YouTube videos or articles from reputable sites such as BabyCenter or La Leche League International that can provide helpful information on topics such as latching, proper positions, and frequency of feedings.

Additionally, attending breastfeeding classes can also be beneficial since they often include demonstrations and one-on-one advice from lactation consultants and other experienced mothers who have gone through the same journey before.

Stay Hydrated & Eat Well

When nursing your baby, it’s important that you take care of yourself too. Drink plenty of water throughout the day in order to replenish lost fluids while your body feeds your child with nutrients from breast milk. Eating nutritious meals and snacks full of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains will also help keep up your energy levels during those long days (and nights!) of motherhood!

Breastfeeding is an amazing way to bond with your child while providing them with essential nutrients their growing bodies need each day. While there may be a learning curve involved when first starting out, remember that many other moms have been where you are now—so don’t hesitate to reach out if needed!

By being prepared ahead of time, getting educated on the basics of breastfeeding, staying hydrated & eating well—you will be able to make this journey much more enjoyable for both you and your little one! Best of luck on this wonderful new adventure!
